Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Continues Fall Season At ITA Midwest Regional

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team will continue the 2022 fall campaign this weekend, taking part in the ITA Midwest Regional beginning on Thursday, October 20. This year's ITA Midwest Regional will be hosted by Michigan and will take place in Ann Arbor, Mich. 

ITA MIDWEST CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

Midwest Regional Field
Cleveland State will be one of 20 teams competing in the Midwest Regional, including Horizon League opponents Chicago State and Youngstown State. 

Qualifying Singles Draw
Cleveland State will have a trio of representatives in the Qualifying Singles Draw, including Bethany Yauch, Tereze Vevere and Ella Franz. This group will begin action on Thursday, October 20 in the 64-player Qualifying Draw, with 16 players from the Qualifying Draw advancing to the Main Draw.  

Main Singles Draw
Cleveland State sophomore Oihane Vicario earned a spot in the Main Singles Draw this year, earning a spot in her first ITA Midwest Regional appearance. The 64-player Main Singles Draw will begin on Friday, October 21.  

Midwest Regional History
All four Vikings competing this weekend will be making their ITA Midwest Regional debuts, as this will be the first time that Cleveland State is represented at the tournament since the 2017 fall campaign.  

2022 Fall Campaign
This will mark the third of five tournaments for the Vikings this fall, as Cleveland State will also compete at the Toledo Invitational and Western Michigan Invitational.  

Last Time Out…
Cleveland State hosted the sixth annual Viking Invitational, with Bethany Yauch taking home the Singles Title and Yauch and Ella Franz capturing the Doubles Title. On the weekend, the Vikings combined for 12 singles wins and seven doubles wins.
