INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After leading the Cleveland State women's tennis team to its first-ever undefeated Horizon League regular season slate, freshman Oihane Vicario has been named the Horizon League Singles Player of the Week. This marks Vicario's league-leading fifth weekly honor of the year.
Last weekend, Vicario and the Vikings notched a 5-2 victory at Youngstown State, capping off a perfect 6-0 regular season slate against league opponents en route to capturing the 2022 #HLTennis Regular Season title. This marked the first undefeated league campaign for the Vikings, while it marked the fifth time that Cleveland State captured at least a share of the regular season crown.
Playing at No. 1 singles against the Penguins, Vicario earned a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory to put the first point on the board for the Vikings against YSU. The win improved Vicario to 4-1 against league opponents this spring, while it also marked her 20th singles win of the year.
Vicario is one of three Vikings to record 20+ wins on the year, and enters Horizon League Tournament play standing at 20-13 overall and 14-8 in dual matches.
