Last Time Out…
The Vikings hosted a doubleheader against John Carroll and St. Francis (PA) in their 2020 home opener, picking up wins in both matches. CSU posted a 7-0 win over JCU to begin the day, and then picked up a 6-1 win over SFU to remain perfect on the season (3-0).

Cleveland State Off To 3-0 Start
For the first time over the last 17 years, the Vikings are off to a perfect 3-0 start, standing as the only Horizon League team to be undefeated after the first three weeks of the spring season. Cleveland State's three wins to open the spring campaign have come over Western Michigan (4-3), John Carroll (7-0) and St. Francis (6-1).

…Vikings At The MMTP
Following last weekend's victories over JCU and SFU, the Vikings improved to 35-11 all-time in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion, and now own an 11-1 record at the MMTP over the last two seasons. This weekend's matches will be part of a 14-match home slate for the Vikings, and will close out their current four-match homestand.

Avram Remains Perfect This Spring
After the first three matches of the spring season, senior Kateryna Avram is the lone Viking to own a 3-0 singles record, picking up straight-set wins in all three of her matches. Avram now has a team-high tying eight singles wins on the year.

…Avram & Lenoan Open Spring Season With 3-0 Doubles Record
Kateryna Avram is also part of Cleveland State's No. 2 doubles team that owns a perfect 3-0 mark this spring, as she has teamed with Blanche Lenoan through the first three matches. Avram and Lenoan have helped Cleveland State pick up the doubles point in all three matches so far this spring, posting 6-1 (WMU), 6-0 (JCU) and 6-3 (SFU) victories at the No. 2 spot.

#HLWTEN Preseason Poll
Earlier this season the Vikings were tabbed to finish second in the highly competitive 10-team Horizon League field, collecting 68 points to finish behind preseason favorite UIC. This marks the eighth year that the Horizon League has released a preseason poll, with the Vikings selected to finish second for the third time.

Head Coach Frank Polito
Frank Polito is in his second year at the helm of the Vikings, and his eighth year overall at Cleveland State. Last year, Polito helped the Vikings to a 16-9 overall record, including an 8-1 mark in regular season league matchups. Polito and the Vikings captured a share of the 2019 Regular Season #HLWTEN Championship last year, and earned an appearance in the league championship match for the first time since 2014.
