Women’s Tennis Has Strong Showing On Day Two Of Iberostar College Cup

CANCUN, Mexico – The Cleveland State women's tennis team had another solid outing at the Iberostar College Cup, picking up three singles wins and two doubles victories on Thursday.

"We came out pretty strong this morning, and I thought we did a good job of sustaining that throughout the day," head coach Frank Polito said. "I thought Klara and Pri made a statement in their doubles match, and played a complete match against Southeastern Louisiana. Pri also had a great singles match, saving three match points against a very good player, and just keeps getting better and better every time she is on the court. Blanche also stepped up in doubles and singles for us today, as she continued her strong start to the fall season."

Freshman Prinkle Singh remained perfect on the fall season, picking up a singles and doubles win Thursday. Singh's singles victory came as a 9-8(3) decision over Wyoming's Maria Oreshkina, while she teamed with Klara Mrcela to pick up an 8-2 win over Southeastern Louisiana.

Blanche Lenoan also went 2-0 on the day, earning an 8-3 win over Mihaela Kaftanova of Wyoming, and a 9-7 doubles win over SLU with Siân Payne.

Gaby Schoenberg picked up the final singles win of the day for the Vikings, as she earned an 8-5 victory over Southeastern Louisiana's Ximena Yanez.

The Vikings will close out the Iberostar College Cup tomorrow, Friday, September 27.
