Women’s Tennis Falls In #HLWTEN Championship Match

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – For the first time in five years the Cleveland State women's tennis team was playing in the Horizon League Championship match Sunday afternoon, but the No. 2 Vikings came up just short in the title contest, falling to top-seeded UIC, 4-0.

· Cleveland State was playing in the Horizon League Championship match for the fourth time in program history, and first time since 2014.

· Cleveland State was playing as the No. 2 seed in the #HLWTEN Tournament, marking the fifth time that the Vikings have earned the second seed in tournament play.

· The Vikings finished the year with a 16-9 overall record, marking the fifth time that the Vikings have eclipsed the 16-win mark over the last 14 seasons.

· Isabella Spindler finished her Cleveland State career with 59 singles wins and 65 doubles wins. She is tied for 12th on the CSU Singles Wins List and tied for fourth on the CSU Doubles Wins List.

· Kateryna Avram finished the year with a team-best 27 singles wins, setting a program record for wins in a single-season.

· The Vikings were under the direction of first year head coach Frank Polito, who finished his first campaign with the Vikings with 16 wins, and led the team to a program-record tying eight Horizon League regular season victories.
