Women’s Tennis Falls At Bowling Green, 4-3

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team wrapped up its weekend at Bowling Green Sunday afternoon, dropping a hard fought 4-3 match against the Falcons. Cleveland State now stands at 1-2 on the young season.

The Match
The Vikings once again fell behind early after dropping the doubles point, and then trailed 3-0 after Bowling Green was able to claim the first two singles points.

Cleveland State rebounded with a win at No. 5 singles, as Gaby Schoenberg earned a 6-4, 6-1 straight-set win to put the score at 3-1 BGSU.

The Falcons were then able to clinch the match with a win at No. 3 singles, but the Vikings picked up the final two singles wins, as Kateryna Avram posted a 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(3) win at the No. 6 spot and Siân Payne recorded a 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles to put the final match score at 4-3.

"This was a tough match today, but we competed hard and fought from start to finish. We got down early after dropping the doubles point, which proved to be the difference today, but I'm excited with how much fight and energy this team is putting in day-after-day."
