Spindler & Golawska Pick Up Horizon League Doubles Team Of The Week Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After returning to the doubles lineup and picking up a pair of wins last weekend, the Cleveland State women's tennis duo of Isabella Spindler and Aleksandra Golawska has been named the Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week.

"Isabella and Aleksandra had a good solid weekend for us in the regular season finale, and there is no better way to head into the league tournament than with a pair of victories under your belt," associate head coach Frank Polito said. "We just recently put Isabella and Aleksandra back together in the doubles lineup and it didn't take them long to get back to their winning ways. Hopefully they can carry this momentum into the tournament this weekend and help us get off to the strong start with the doubles point."

During the final roadswing of the regular season, Spindler and Golawska picked up a pair of wins at No. 2 doubles against Milwaukee and Green Bay, earning a 6-2 win against the Panthers and a 6-1 victory against the Phoenix. Last weekend's matches marked the return to the doubles lineup for the tandem, and improved their overall season record to 12-9.

The back-to-back wins against Milwaukee and Green Bay also moved the tandem into a tie for sixth place on the CSU Doubles Team Wins List, as the duo enters the Horizon League Tournament with 22 victories. Earlier this season Spindler and Golawska became just the ninth Viking doubles team all-time to eclipse 20 wins and need just one more win to move into fifth place.

The Vikings return to action this weekend, as they will be the No. 2 seed in the 2017 Horizon League Tournament. As a top-two seed Cleveland State has earned a bye into the semifinals and will begin play on Saturday, April 29.
