Lenoan Finishes With 3-0 Singles Record At Akron Shootout

AKRON, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team wrapped up action at the Akron Shootout Sunday, led by freshman Blanche Lenoan who finished the weekend with a perfect 3-0 singles record.

"Overall I think we had a good first tournament, Blanche and Jana had a great weekend for us, both of them are improving their games every day at practice and I'm excited to see what they do this season," associate head coach Frank Polito said. "Victoria had a great bounce back match today, and Isabella played the reigning MAC Player of the Year in a tough singles contest. I was impressed with our effort against a very good Akron team in singles today and although our doubles needs a little work moving forward, we are looking forward to hosting our own tournament in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion in a few weeks."

Lenoan, who picked up a singles victory in each round of the Akron Shootout, finished the weekend with a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (2) win over Akron's Shannon Newnes. Victoria Bensimon also posted a singles win on the final day of the tournament, earning a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Karalina Maksimava, also of Akron.

Bensimon's win gives her 56 for her career, and moves her into 10th place by herself on the CSU Singles Wins List.

The Vikings were also able to pick up a doubles win on the final day of the Akron Shootout, as the top doubles team of Isabella Spindler and Aleksandra Golawska cruised to a 6-2 victory over a Siena tandem.

Cleveland State will return to action Friday, October 7 through Sunday, October 9, as CSU will host the Viking Invitational in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
