Vikings Fall To No. 47 DePaul

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team faced its second ranked opponent in as many matches Saturday afternoon, as the Vikings fell to No. 47 DePaul, 7-0.

"This was another tough match for us against a very good opponent in DePaul. We put up a good fight in singles and doubles, and were once again able to work on some things that we knew we needed to focus on," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We were able to take some things from this match that will make us stronger at the end of the season, and hopefully continue to improve match after match."

Lauren Golick was able to battle at the top of the singles lineup, falling 6-2, 7-5 to DePaul's top singles player. Ellen Folkers also had a close match at No. 4 singles, falling 6-3, 6-4 in her match.

Aleksandra Golawska was in the singles lineup for the first time this spring, dropping a 6-1, 6-2 match at No. 6 singles.

The Vikings will continue their tough early season schedule next weekend, traveling to Michigan State (Saturday, Feb. 7) and Toledo (Sunday, Feb. 8).
