Vikings Fall To No. 31 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued its spring season Thursday afternoon, falling to No. 31 Ohio State, 7-0.

"I thought we competed really well today against a very tough Ohio State team, everyone fought hard  and we were able to work on things that we know we need to focus on moving forward," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We had some matches that were very competitive and had some moments in those matches that could have swung our way, but we just weren't able to put them away. We have our eyes on the prize at the end of the season, and matches like this will only make us tougher when the final stretch of the season comes around."

The Vikings had strong showings at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5 singles, with Lauren Golick, Mathilde Orange, and Ellen Folkers falling in tightly contested matches.

Princess Gbadamosi also had a good effort at No. 6 singles, while Jana Schober and Aleksandra Golawska were battling at the top doubles spot before their match was called.

Next up for the Vikings will be a 12:00 p.m. contest against No. 46 DePaul on Saturday, January 31. Saturday's match will take place at the Chagrin Valley Athletic Club in Chagrin Falls, Ohio (17260 Snyder Road/Chagrin Falls, Ohio/44023).
