Women’s Tennis Concludes Fall Season At ITA Regional

UPDATED MAIN DOUBLES DRAW

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team concluded the fall portion of its schedule Friday, as the Vikings had one doubles team in action at the ITA Regional, and Mathilde Orange playing a consolation singles match.

"Mathilde played a good match today, she was up at the start of the first set, then let her opponent back in the match and had to battle for the first-set victory. She was able to dominate in the second set then, really focusing on playing her game," associate head coach Frank Polito said. "In doubles, we had some chances against a tough Michigan team, but we just didn't capitalize on all of them. Overall this was a good fall season for us, and we know what we need to work on before the spring season to build towards another Horizon League Championship."

Mathilde Orange picked up CSU's second singles win at the ITA Regional, posting a 7-5, 6-1 victory over IPFW's Sofia Sorokina in a consolation match.

Cleveland State's lone doubles team in acation at the ITA Regional was Jana Schober and Victoria Bensimon, who fell to a tough Michigan team by a score of 8-4 in the opening round.

Lauren Golick, who earned a spot in the Main Singles Draw, will not compete this weekend due to an injury.
