BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team had another successful day at the UB Fall Invitational Saturday, as Victoria Bensimon and Jana Schober captured the Flight A Doubles title.

Bensimon and Schober picked up two wins on the day claiming the Flight A Doubles title after earning a bye into the semfinals. The duo posted both of their wins over tandems from Buffalo – an 8-5 victory in the semifinal round and an 8-4 win in the championship match.

"We had a good day all around, playing well in both doubles and singles action," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Our doubles team of Victoria and Jana played some really good tennis, being aggressive and attacking in both of their matches. It's exciting to come away from the tournament with a flight championship, and we will give it all we have tomorrow and hopefully bring home another."

The Vikings were also able to post a 4-2 singles record on the day, including wins from Ellen Folkers and Aleksandra Golawska in the C Flight to advance both to the championship match. Folkers posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Buffalo's Laura Holterbosch, while Golawska earned a 6-2, 6-1 win against Christina Haraldson also of Buffalo. Folkers and Golawska will now face each other in the championship match of the C Singles Flight tomorrow morning.

Cleveland State's other two singles wins came in the B Singles Flight, as Princess Gbadamosi and Jana Schober each picked up a consolation victory. Both players posted 6-4, 6-2 victories, Gbadamosi over Niagara's Brooke Briseno and Schober over Niagara's Maria Ortiz.

"We were able to post a winning record in singles play again today, and I thought we continued to improve and will hopefully continue that tomorrow. Ellen had an interesting match, playing the majority of it with someone else's racket after hers broke, but she persevered and picked up the win. Princess and Aleksandra were both playing more aggressive today and playing all around better tennis. After a tough day yesterday, Jana bounced back and we got to see some of her better tennis today, which was great," Etzkin said.

Play at the UB Fall Invitational will wrap up tomorrow (October 11), with the final round of singles matches.
