MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued their strong play at the West Virginia Pink Invitational Saturday, sweeping their singles matches and picking up a pair of doubles victories.
"We played very well in singles today, with strong performances from everyone," associate head coach Frank Polito said. "We struggled a bit in our first round of doubles, but we bounced back and were able to pick up a pair of wins in the second round of doubles play. We are excited about our performance today, and looking forward to finishing strong tomorrow."
The Vikings went 7-0 in singles action today, improving their singles record to 13-1 at the West Virginia Pink Invitational this weekend. Lauren Golick, Mathilde Orange, Jana Schober, Victoria Bensimon, Ellen Folkers, and Princess Gbadamosi all picked up their second singles victory of the weekend, while Aleksandra Golawska won her first singles match at the WVU Invitational.
In doubles play, Cleveland State was able to pick up two wins against West Virginia, with Ellen Folkers and Victoria Bensimon picking up a 6-4 victory and Lauren Golick and Princess Gbadamosi earning a 6-3 win.
The Vikings will wrap up play at the West Virginia Pink Invitational tomorrow (Sunday, Sept. 28), with one round of singles action.
