Vikings Advance To Championship Match Of A Doubles Draw

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Cleveland State women's tennis duo of Princess Gbadamosi and Victoria Bensimon have earned a spot in the A Doubles Bracket championship match, after going 3-0 so far this weekend at the Ball State Invitational.

"We have been playing some really good doubles this weekend, our freshmen duo of Princess and Victoria had a good win today to get them into the finals, and they have really been playing good tennis all weekend," assistant coach Frank Polito said. "Kara and Princess each went 1-1 in singles action today, giving us quality tennis in both matches and Victoria lost a tough match in the quarterfinals, falling in a third-set tiebreaker. The two freshmen that have been playing this weekend look really good on the court and I am excited about their futures and what they can bring to the team."

After picking up a pair of wins yesterday, the tandem of Gbadamosi and Bensimon earned another victory Saturday to earn a spot in the championship match of the A Doubles Bracket. After being down 3-0, the duo came back and earned an 8-6 victory over a duo from Ball State to earn their spot in the final match.

The Vikings had two players go 1-1 in singles action Saturday – Gbadamosi in the A Consolation bracket and Sherwood in the B Consolation bracket. Gbadamosi fell to Sierra Stone of Illinois State and then rebounded with a 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (4) win over Butler's Stephanie McLoughlin. Sherwood picked up a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Kailey Eaton of Butler before falling to Bijana Milosevska of Arkansas State.

Cleveland State will wrap up action at the Ball State Invitational tomorrow (Sunday, Sept. 22), with the duo of Gbadamosi and Bensimon the lone Vikings to be competing in the main draws.
