CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team will continue Horizon League play this weekend, traveling to Wisconsin for a pair of contests. The Vikings will open the weekend with a 5:00 p.m. EST match at Milwaukee on Saturday, April 6, and will then face Green Bay at 3:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, April 7.

Against Milwaukee: Under head coach Brian Etzkin the Vikings are 10-1 against Milwaukee, and enter Saturday's contest on a nine-match win streak. The Panthers are currently 9-7 overall this season and 2-1 in league play - defeating Valparaiso (7-0) and falling to UIC (6-1) last time out.

Against Green Bay: CSU is 10-2 against the Phoenix over the past 10 seasons, and currently riding a 10-match win streak. Green Bay enters the weekend with a 2-18 overall record and a 1-2 mark in league play. Last time out the Phoenix picked up a 7-0 victory over Valparaiso, and will face Youngstown State prior to Sunday's match against the Vikings.

Entering the weekend CSU stands at 7-9 overall this season and 1-1 in league play, falling to Youngstown State (5-2) last time out. The senior duo of Maria Lazaris and Nicole Janek picked up Cleveland State's two points against the Penguins, Lazaris at No. 5 singles and Janek at the No. 6 spot.

With their victories last weekend, Lazaris and Janek each added to their career singles records - Lazaris now ranking fourth all-time at CSU with 64 career wins and Janek ranking fifth all-time with 63 career victories. Kara Sherwood and Alex Power are also on the top-10 all-time singles wins list at CSU, Sherwood ranking ninth with 51 victories and Power ranking 10th with 49 wins. 

 
 
 


Sherwood has a team-best 13-11 record this season and has picked up eight singles wins during the spring - also a team-high. Lazaris and Janek join Sherwood at the top of the singles wins list this spring also owning eight victories, while Lazaris and Janek are the only two Vikings to own a perfect 2-0 record against league opponents so far.
