CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's swimming and diving squad earned the Team Scholar All-America Award from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. The announcement was made on Wednesday evening.

In addition, Carys Behn, Alex Johansson, Joanna Olsson and Alice Sommerville were all earned Scholar All-America Award honorable mention honors.

The Honorable Mention Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and have achieved a "B" time standard in their respective national championship.

"The Cleveland State Swimming and Diving Team has concluded a great year with another award for academic excellence to go along with a record breaking year in the swimming pool," head coach Wally Morton said. "What makes this achievement so special is that the team exhibits excellence in sport, community service and most importantly, academics. Our women's swimming and diving team is truly representative of the best that attributes of a Division I student athlete."

The award is the latest for the Vikings, who set a school-record with 15 dual meet wins in 2010-11.

The Team Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (Winter/Spring).
