CLEVELAND, Ohio - For the third consecutive week, junior Kacey Cummings has been honored as the Horizon League Diver of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday (Feb. 1).

"Kacey is more than just a diver to the team," head coach Wally Morton said. "She shows outstanding discipline, not just on the diving board but in the classroom as well. She supports all the athletes on the team and, because of her attitude, she's brought this team to a new level."

Cummings swept the diving events in CSU's meet at Bowling Green last Wednesday. She scored 281.70 points in the 1-meter dive, the most of any Horizon League diver in that event this season. She also competed in the 3-meter dive, winning with a score of 262.65.

"She did an exceptional job in the 1-meter," diving coach Rich Karban said. "She came out focused and looked really sharp. Her 3-meter was very solid as well."

This is the third straight week and the fourth this season that the league has honored Cummings as its diver of the week. It is also the sixth time in her Viking career that she has won the award.

Cleveland State will finish out its regular season slate with a conference meet at UIC on Saturday (Feb. 5). The meet is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. EST.

"As we're closing out the season, she's polishing up her technique," Karban said. "This is a great sign of things to come at the conference championships."

In addition to being honored as one of the conference's athletes of the week, Cummings will be a nominee for the Horizon League's People's Choice award. The selection will be announced on Friday (Feb. 4), with the winner being featured in an interview on the conference's website. Viking fans can vote for Cummings at www.HorizonLeague.org.
