CLEVELAND, Ohio - On the heels of winning 1-Meter dive on Saturday (Jan. 22) and helping the women's swimming and diving team earn a season-record tying 14th win, Kacey Cummings was honored by the Horizon League as its diver of the week for the week beginning Jan. 18.

The league office made the announcement on Tuesday (Jan. 25).

"Kacey means more to this team than just being a good diver," head coach Wally Morton said. "She's an integral part of bringing together the swimmers and the divers. She's a good diver, she's great at supporting our swimmers, and she also excels in the classroom.

"This is an honor well-deserved by a true Viking."

Cummings beat divers from Youngstown State and Wright State in the 1-meter dive on Saturday, scoring a career-best 271.95 points. She also placed second in the 3-meter dive with a score of 238.70.

"Last weekend she had a decent performance in the 3-meter, but she wasn't happy with it," diving coach Rich Karban said. "That fueled her to have an excellent performance in the 1-meter. If she can harness that focus the rest of the year she will be great moving forward."

This was the third diver of the week honor for Cummings this season and the second week in a row she's earned the accolades. This marks the fifth time overall in her CSU career that Cummings has been named Horizon League Diver of the Week.

The Viking women defeated Youngstown State, 206-94, on Saturday to earn the team's 14th dual meet win of the year. This ties last year's squad for the most dual meet victories in a season. CSU also swam Wright State but fell, 158-140.

Cleveland State's women's swimming and diving team (14-3) will be back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 26), traveling to Bowling Green to swim the Falcons in a 6:00 p.m. meet.
