Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - The Cleveland State swimming and diving team will be back in action as a team for the first time since Nov. 29, 2011 when they participate in the Bob Mowerson Sprint Meet in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. at 2:00 p.m. on Friday (Jan. 6).

The meet - which consists of seven events - will be held at the International Swimming Hall of Fame's outdoor aquatic complex.

It will be a long course meet using meters. Student-athletes will participate the 400 free, 100 free, 200 IM, while racing 50 meters in the fly, back, breast and free. There will be no diving events.

With many teams visiting Florida to train over their winter breaks, programs get together and hold an official meet before returning home. Selected schools will enter the event with entries not due until Friday morning.

The last time the Vikings competed as a team was at the Cleveland Dual Meet Invitational on Nov. 29 and both the men and women swept their three opponents.

Cleveland State sent 10 student-athletes to Atlanta to compete in the AT&T National Championships Dec. 1-3 with Justin Kermack placing ninth in the 200 fly.

As a team, the Cleveland State men's squad is ranked 15th while the women are slotted 19th in the latest CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major Dual Meet Rankings.
