Evanston, Ill. - Joanna Olsson led the Vikings during day two of the TYR Invitational, setting a CSU record in the 400 IM. Cleveland State is in fourth place with 235 points, trailing Northwestern, Iowa State and Michigan State going into the final day of competition.

"The women's squad is continuing to do well during this invitational, with multiple swimmers stepping up for us," head coach Wally Morton said. "I am proud with the way that our team is holding their own against these top schools and so far we have been able to put some of our best times out there, especially with Joanna who is doing extremely well this weekend."

Olsson set a program record in the 400 IM with her 4:24.40 she recorded during the prelims and went on to best the record later in the day during the finals. She placed fourth with a time of 4:22.99 during the finals, breaking her previous record by two seconds. With only ten minutes rest she was able to take seventh place in the 200 free finishing with a time of 1:53.52.

As part of the 800 free relay team, Olsson teamed with Carys Behn, Alice Sommerville and Jamie Puls to record a 7:43.87, just two-tenths of a second shy of setting a CSU record.

Behn and Sommerville both swam in the 100 fly with Behn recording a 12th place finish with a 58.42 and Sommerville recorded a 57.67 in the consolation heat, swimming the fastest time of the season and the third fastest time in the program.

Sommerville also placed 10th in the 100 breast, recording her fastest time of the season with a 1:05.83, while Behn took home a fourth place finish in the 200 free (1:52.28).

Michelle Ferro was the top finisher for the Vikings in the 100 back, recording a 59.22 which was good enough for a 14th place finish.

The Vikings wrap up action at the TYR Invitational tomorrow, with prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m. EDT and finals directly afterwards.
