Evanston, Ill. - The Cleveland State women's swimming and diving team ended day one of the TYR Northwestern University Invitational in fourth place behind two individual CSU records by Joanna Olsson and one relay program record. The Vikings ended the day with 116 points, trailing Nortwestern, Iowa State and Michigan State.

"We still have a long way to go with the meet, but so far the women are putting out great performances," head coach Wally Morton said. "We did very well for the first day, setting three school records, Joanna Olsson was having an excellent day and hopefully she will keep that up for the rest of the invitational."

Olsson set program records in back-to-back races, first in the 500 free with a time of 4:54.39 which was good enough for a third place finish. She came right back to set a record in the 200 IM for the fourth time this season, when she finished fourth with a time of 2:05.31.

Olsson was also part of the 400 medley relay that set a CSU record in 3:54.34. Michelle Ferro, Alice Sommerville, Carys Behn and Olsson teamed together for a sixth place finish.

Behn put forth her best time of the year earlier in the day in the prelims of the 500 free when she finished in 5:00.49. Her prelim time was good enough to propel her into the finals where she placed eight with a time of 5:02.09.

Sommerville also placed for the Vikings in the 50 free and the 200 IM. She placed 11th in the 50 free with a time of 24.01 and 13th in the 200 IM touching in 2:10.79, which is the third fastest time at CSU.

The Vikings will continue the TYR Invitational tomorrow, with prelims beginning at 11:00 a.m. EDT and finals starting at 6:00 p.m. EDT.
