CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State earned wins over Baldwin-Wallace (153-79) and Notre Dame (OH) (150-73), but fell to Gannon, 123-107, in the City College Classic on Tuesday evening in Busbey Natatorium.

"I was very pleased because we received great swims from everybody on the team from top to bottom," head coach Wally Morton said. "We performed at a high level and came up just a bit short against Gannon, but we had a chance to win the meet up to the last event and you can't ask for anything more than that."

Several Vikings had outstanding meets, including Lesley Jones who posted wins in the 50 free (25.18) and the 100 free (54.44). Her time in the 100 free was .01 seconds faster than Ellie Hess of Gannon.

"Lesley had some very close competitive races and it was good to see her come out on top in those," Morton said.

Katie Bellew captured wins in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke as she was CSU's other dual winner. She tallied 1:00.42 in the fly and 1:10.60 in the breast.

"Katie has been working hard in practice and has really improved from the beginning of the season," Morton said.

CSU also had a great showing in the distance events, as the Vikings finished first and second in the 1,000 freestyle Erin Green won the event with a time of 10:53.41, while Frances Carrion was second in 10:58.15. In addition, Carrion was second in the 500 free as her time of 5:18.24 was just .06 second slower than Brenna Pease of Gannon.

Trisha Simon won the 1-meter board with a score of 213.65.

CSU will be out of action until they compete at the Miami (OH) Invitational in Oxford, Ohio from Nov. 29-Dec.1.
