Vikings Lose to Green Bay

Cleveland, OhioFrances Carrion, Kristine Bunker, and Lesley Jones all had good meets for the Vikings as the CSU fell to the defending conference champions Green Bay 147-69. The Vikings fall to 0-3 on the season.

Frances Carrion won the 1000 yard freestyle (11:00.80) and just missed a first place finish in the 500 yard freestyle 5:20.01. Carrion also had her fastest split in the 400 freestyle relay (58.19).

"We are delighted with the way Frances is swimming," head coach Wally Morton said. "She had her career best in the 500 yard freestyle."

Kristine Bunker also had a good meet for the Vikings. Bunker finished second in the 200 yard freestyle (2:02.41) and finished third in the 500 yard freestyle (5:33.30).

"We are very impressed with Kristine," Morton said. "It's fun to watch her improvement on a weekly basis."

Jones had two second place finishes as she finished with a time of 25.38 in the 50 yard freestyle and a time of 54.75 in the 100 yard free.

Joining Jones with two seconds was Katie Bellew, who finished with a time of 2:14.57 in the 200 butterfly and 2:33.23 in the 200 yard breaststroke.

"Katie swam her heart out this afternoon," Morton said. "I'm happy with both of her performances."

Cleveland State's 400 yard freestyle relay team of Deanna Raedel, Kristina Nagy, Frances Carrion, and Lesley Jones finished second (3:37.48).

"We as a staff are happy with the enthusiasm and support the women have for each other," Morton said. "If they keep that up, we will start seeing results in their meets."

The women are off until next Friday (Nov. 2) as they take on St. Bonaventure at 6:00 p.m.
