Chicago, Ill. - Alice Sommerville was part of two Cleveland State recording setting events on day two of the Horizon League Championships as the women ended the day in fifth place with 167 points.

Sommerville set her first CSU record in the 50 free, when she recorded a personal best time of 23.58, good enough for a third place finish. Her time topped Carys Behn, who was the previous record holder, swimming a 23.66 in 2009.

Jamie Puls also set a personal best in the 50 free, finishing 14th with a time of 24.61.

The second CSU record of the day came during the 400 medley relay, when the team of Michelle Ferro, Sommerville, Joanna Olsson and Behn finished fifth in 3:53.61. The quartet bested their own record of 3:54.34 that they set during the TYR Invitational earlier this season.

Behn had a solid swim for the Vikings as the lone CSU swimmer in the 500 free finals, finishing third in 4:57.60, her best time of the season.

Olsson was the lone Viking in the 200 IM finals, finishing seventh in a time of 2:07.83.

Kacey Cummings began her first championship meet with a third place finish on the 1-meter board, setting a personal best with 272.30 points. Liz Victor also placed for the Vikings, finishing 16th with 184.75 points.

"This was the most competitive top eight I have seen since I have been at CSU, the quality among the divers was just outstanding," head diving coach Rich Karban said. "Kacey was able to stay confident and calm throughout the whole event, and just continued to put out great dives. I am looking forward to seeing what she does in the next years because she has improved so much over the past season in the 1-meter event. Liz had a great performance for where she is in her career and it was great that she was able to score points for the team."

CSU ended the day with 167 points and in fifth place, behind Green Bay (316), Milwaukee (290), Wright State (261.5) and UIC (197). Youngstown State finished sixth (113.5), Butler finished seventh (68) and Valparaiso eighth (48).
