Rochester, Mich. - Joanna Olsson and Alice Sommerville were the only Vikings to record individual victories against Oakland tonight, as the Vikings dropped their second straight meet for the first time this season when they fell, 140-82 to the Golden Grizzlies.

"I felt we improved on the Wright State performances tonight in terms of the overall racing was much better," head coach Wally Morton said. "We swam people in events that they haven't swam in all year to find answers for the Horizon League championships, and some of those people really stepped up and swam extremely well. We were very competitive in the meet against an Oakland team that is one of the top mid-major programs in the nation."

Sommerville recorded her only victory of the night in the 100 breast finishing with a time of 1:06.48. She placed second in two events, the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.10 and the 100 fly (57.48).

Olsson was victorious in the 200 free touching in an outstanding time of 1:53.98, finishing four seconds in front of the second place finisher. She was also victorious in the 500 free with a time of 5:06.92.

The final victory for the Vikings came in the last event of the meet, the 200 free relay when the team of Carys Behn, Emily Splain, Whitney Hickey and Jamie Puls combined to finish with a time of 1:40.13. Puls recorded her best 50 free split, anchoring the relay with a 24.28.

Behn also took home a pair of second place finishes during the meet, first in the 50 free ending with a time of 24.72 and then in the 100 free putting in a solid performance of 53.41.

Michelle Ferro touched second in the 200 back with a time of 1:00.08 to round out the first and second place finishers for CSU.

Also recording a personal best was Courtney Maddock in the 500 free. Maddock finished in 5:16.01, dropping 16 seconds off her previous best.

The Vikings will host UIC and Youngstown State in their final dual meet of the season on Saturday, February 6 beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Busbey Natatorium. The meet will also be senior day for the lone Viking senior, Brittany McCann.
