BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Carys Behn, Alice Sommerville and Kacey Cummings each won multiple events and Alexandra Johansson won the 100 back, but the Cleveland State women's swimming and diving team fell to Bowling Green, 170-124, on Wednesday (Jan. 26).

"I am proud of the positivity on this team," head coach Wally Morton said. "They came together and supported each other and competed hard with one of the best teams in the Mid-American Conference."

Behn earned the first win of the day for the Vikings, taking the 200 free in 1:54.92. She also won the 500 free (5:10.18), swimming hard in the final lap to beat out BGSU's Jennifer Beatty (5:10.23).

Sommerville also won two races, placing first in the 100 fly (56.91) and the 50 free (24.01). She placed second in the 100 free, coming in at 53.06.

One of the top swimming performances of the day came from Johansson, who took first in the 100 back in 58.43. Johansson also had the fastest split in the first leg of the 200 medley of anyone participating in the race.

Kacey Cummings swept the diving events. She won the 1-meter with a score of 281.70, her highest score of the year in that event, and she took the 3-meter with a score of 262.65.

Other highlights for Cleveland State included Joanna Olsson placing second in the 200 IM (2:11.59) and the team of Sommerville, Behn, Johansson and Christine Kopacko taking second in the 200 free relay (1:37.20).

"This is a tough time in the season to have a meet like this," Morton said. "The team has been training hard, and they're tired. But they swam well and competed hard and supported each other to the end."

The Vikings (14-4) will now have over a week to prepare for their next test, one last road meet to close out the regular season at UIC on Feb. 5. That meet is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. EST.
