Fairborn, Ohio - Despite five individual victories, the Cleveland State women's swimming and diving team fell at Wright State, 150-91. The loss is just the fourth of the season, giving them a 13-4 overall record.

"Going into today's meet we knew it would be a tough one, and that proved to be true for us," head coach Wally Morton said. "Wright State has a very challenging pool to swim in and combined with them being one of the best teams in the league makes for a tough day of competition."

Joanna Olsson led the swimmers with victories in the 200 IM (2:08.60) and the 200 fly (2:07.44).

Kacey Cummings led the divers, with great performances in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. She recorded a score of 252.15 in the 1-meter board and 267.82 points in the 3-meter event.

Alice Sommerville was the last Viking to record a victory, winning the 50 free with a time of 24.79.

"This was our first week back in school, and it has also been one of the hardest weeks of training that we have had all season," Morton said. "Even with all of that they still were able to compete and perform under the circumstances. This was the most competitive that we have swam against a Wright State team in the past 15 years and that is something to be proud of."

The Vikings also had two swimmers take home second place honors, beginning with Michelle Ferro in the 200 breast (2.29:58). Carys Behn finished second in both the 200 (1:57.61) and 500 free (5:09.18), while the 400 medley relay team of Emily Simard, Ferro, Sommerville and Behn also finished in second place with a time of 4:01.32, which is the second fastest time of the season.

The Vikings return to action on Friday (Jan. 29) when CSU travels to Rochester, Michigan to take on Oakland at 6:00 p.m.
