Cleveland State University swimming & diving added Gwen Kainass from Phoenix, Arizona. Kainass swam for Veritas Prep and Phoenix Swim Club.

Kainass was a four-time state finalist and graduated with multiple school records. She was named MVP during her junior and senior years.

"I chose Cleveland State because of the educational and research opportunities offered at the engineering school. The team atmosphere was also very appealing to me and something I wanted to be a part of for the next four years."

Kainass had multiple top-ten finishes at Senior States and was a finalist in multiple events at the Speedo Sectionals.

In the classroom, Kainass was the recipient of academic excellence awards and all-honors recognition.

Kainass is the daughter of Val and Kris Kainass and will major in biomedical engineering.
