Cleveland State Women's Swimming & Diving Earn Two #HLSD All-Academic Awards

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Cleveland State women's swimming & diving athletes, Ana Sofia Sousa and Brooke Eichel were named to the 2023-24 Valeo All-Academic Team, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.

Sofia Sousa, received All-Academic recognition for the third straight season. The senior holds a 3.78 GPA and is pursuing a degree in marketing. The Sines, Portugal, native has been named to the Dean's List five times and the President's List twice.

At the most recent Horizon League Championships, Sofia Sousa was the runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle, placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with the eighth-fastest time, and won the B-final of the 200-yard freestyle. She was also part of the third-place 400-yard freestyle relay and fifth-place 800-yard medley relay teams.

Eichel, received All-Academic honors for the first time in her career. The junior carries a 3.77 GPA in sociology. The Buffalo, New York, native has been named to the Dean's List four times and the President's List once.

Eichel qualified for NCAA Zones for the first time in 1M diving after scoring 268.50 points. At this year's Horizon League Championships, she placed sixth in 1m with 250.05 points and tenth in 3m with 223.85 points.
