Cleveland State Women's Swimming & Diving Topples Youngstown State

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women picked up their first win of the year after defeating Youngstown State at home on Saturday afternoon, 179-121. On the day, the Vikings had nine individual wins and swept both relays.

Haley PalmerKellsie Krisch, and Audrey Butcher led the way with two wins apiece.

Cleveland State opened the swimming portion of the meet with a first-and-second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The A-team of Audrey Butcher, Grace Butcher, Ellie Mckibbin, and Grace Chelf clocked a time of 1:48.53.

The Vikings went one-and-two in the 100-yard backstroke with A. Butcher (59.79) edging out Alaina Brown (1:00.75).

G. Butcher was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:06.48.

The 200-yard butterfly was won by Tess Walsh with a time of 2:09.95.

Palmer sprinted to a time of 24.72 to win the 50-yard freestyle and then won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.84.

Cleveland State went one through three in the 200-yard backstroke with Chelf (2:06.64), Brown (2:11.21), and Kayla Brock (2:13.20).

Krisch earned the win in the 200-yard breaststroke after touching the wall in 2:25.92 and was also victorious in the 200-yard IM, stopping the clock in 2:12.66.

The 100-yard butterfly saw the Vikings go one-and-two with A. Butcher (1:00.09) and Walsh (1:00.52).

The Green and White capped off the meet with the first two spots of the 400-yard freestyle relay as the A-team of Brown, Ciez, Palmer, and Chelf clocked a 3:38.24.

Cleveland State will prepare for the 11th annual Magnus Cup Invitational, which runs from Thursday, Nov. 16 through Saturday, Nov. 18. Additionally, on Sunday, a long-course time trial will be held. Prelims will be at 9 a.m. each day, with finals taking place at 6 p.m. Diving will take place between the sessions on the three days.
