INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Vikings reached the midway point of the Horizon League Championships on Thursday evening. With two days remaining, Cleveland State is sixth with 96.5 points.

Ana Sofia Sousa started the second night off by winning the B-final of the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 4:58.36.

Rachel Contich earned All-Horizon honors after finishing as the runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking a 4:56.99. Emmaleigh Zietlow of IUPUI won with a time of 4:54.52.

Lauren Lewis won the second B-final of the evening for the Vikings in the 200-yard IM, finishing in 2:05.62.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Emily Deitz, Gaia Sterre Mirotti, Reagan St. Clair, and Rachel Contich came in sixth with a time of 1:36.153.

Head Coach Hannah Burandt said, "Tonight was absolutely incredible for our women from start to finish. Ana set the tone for the team from the beginning with her amazing swim and win in the B-final which really helped settle down and set up Rachel in the championship race. Rachel swam incredibly and was deserving of her finish, I am proud of her. Then for Lauren to rise from 16th in prelims to win the B-finals of the 200 IM, shows that if you have a spot in a lane, anything can happen. I am just so proud of the way we competed today and we're just at the halfway point and starting to hit our stride. This league is so deep, and all the coaches have done an incredible job and it's just showing in how fast everyone is swimming and just how competitive every race is. At the end of the night, I was happy with our meet management, and now it's about leveling up tomorrow with much more racing to go."
