McNamara Doubles Up on Weekly Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Junior Molly McNamara of the Cleveland State University women's swimming & diving team was named Horizon League Women's Swimmer of the Week by the League office Tuesday afternoon.

In each of the past two weeks that CSU has competed, McNamara has earned weekly plaudits from the League. She now owns five weekly HL honors in her career.

McNamara was a key figure in the Vikings sweeping Green Bay and Marshall in their home-opening action of the 2017-18 season.

McNamara was part of four Viking victories as the CSU women took down a Horizon League foe and a Conference USA opponent. She swept the butterfly events in the meet, winning in 56.37 and 2:03.63, with the former time resetting her own mark for best time in the League this season. She swam the third leg for CSU on the winning 200 and 400 medley relays. In the 200 medley, she split 24.82 seconds while she split 56.03 seconds in the 400 medley race. Both of those marks were the fastest third leg in those relays.

McNamara also owns the top 200 butterfly time in the League this season from a dual at Xavier earlier this season (2:03.60) and is among the top 10 in the 200 IM as well (2:10.95).

Cleveland State will resume action Nov. 17-19 when it hosts the sixth annual Magnus Cup.
