Women's Swimming Drops Opener at Green Bay

GREEN BAY, WI – The Cleveland State men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened the 2014-15 season at Green Bay on Saturday afternoon.

The men's team dropped a close 151-148 decision, while the women lost to the Phoenix, 181-108.

The Vikings had seven first place winners in the individual swimming and diving events.

For the men's squad, Patrick Walsh took first in the 1,000 freestyle (9:58.57), while Philipp Sikatzki placed first in the 100 baclstroke (49.34) and 100 butterfly (49.03).  The 400 medley and 400 free relay teams placed first with a time of 3:29.24. Nathan Grant also won the 500 freestyle (4:46.92), while Danny Roberts won the 1 meter diving event with a score of 309.60.

The Viking women were led by Madisen Tretter, who was a part of the winning 400 yard medley relay team (4:03.34) and also won the 200 yard breast with a time of 2:28.85.

The Vikings will be back in action on Friday (Oct. 24) at home against Niagara with events beginning at 4 p.m.
