Women Earn Impressive Win Over St. Bonaventure, 168-132

CLEVELAND, Ohio-  The Cleveland State women's swimming and diving team earned an impressive win over St. Bonaventure, 168-132 at Robert F. Busbey Natatorium.

The Vikings (2-4) had three swimmers earning two first place wins in their individual swim events.  Junior Hayley Smith won the 100 backstroke (1:00.42) and the 200 backstroke (2:08.36), sophomore diver Samantha Sposet scored atop in the 3-meter (254.33) and the 1-meter (244.35), and freshman Rowan Elbadry won the 200 freestyle (1:52.62) and the 100 freestyle (51.88).

Other first place winners that won their swim events were Jodi Turk, who won the 1,000 freestyle (10:32.49), Dayna Kiekebosch touched the wall first in the 100 breastroke (1:07.80), and Alex Johansson had a fast time in the 50 free (24.36).  Cleveland State also took first in the 400 Medley Relay (Smith, Kiekebosch, Johansson, and Elbadry) with a top time of 3:57.95 and the 400 Freestyle Relay (Elbadry, Pallijia, Kopacko, and Johansson) with a first place time of 3:35.41.  CSU had 11 first place victories over St. Bonaventure on the day.

Other women swimmers that had excellent swimming performances was diver Alex DiMasso who finished second in the 3-meter dive (235.88) and 1-meter dive (230.55). Kiekebosch earned a second place finish in the 200 breastroke (2:28.11) to go along with her first place finish in the 100 breast.  Turk as well to go along with her first place finish in the 1,000 free, took second in the 500 free (5:14.45), and Johansson added a second place finish in the 100 butterfly (58.25).

The women will be jumping back in the pool tomorrow (Nov. 9), as CSU will travel to Niagara University.  The swimming events will get underway at 1:00 p.m.
