Lindsay Gervais Named To 2003 Spring Academic All-Horizon League Softball Team

June 20, 2003

CLEVELAND - Senior Lindsay Gervais (Bucyrus, Ohio/Colonel Crawford) earned a spot on the 2003 Spring Academic All-Horizon League team released Thursday. A psychology major with a minor in communication, Gervais boasts a perfect 4.00 GPA and served as co-valedictorian for the Class of 2003 at Cleveland State University.

A Presidential Scholarship recipient, Gervais juggled demanding courses with a stellar athletic career. She posted a 3.28 ERA this past season with a 4-7 record and has a year of eligibility remaining due to a stress fracture suffered during the 2002 campaign.

Gervais is a four-time recipient of Cleveland State's Athletic Academic Excellence Award and earned a spot on the Horizon League Spring Academic Honor Roll in 2002.

In April, she received the Barnes & Noble Director's Award at Cleveland State's annual Athletic Academic Honors Luncheon. The award recognizes the graduating student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA.

The Spring Academic All-Horizon League Teams are selected by the Horizon League Sports Information Directors and Faculty Athletic Representatives. Nominees must meet the following criteria: 1) a cumulative grade point average (G.P.A.) of 3.25 or better on a 4.00 scale; 2) have completed at least three semesters at the same institution; and 3) be a starter or significant contributor in a League-sponsored sport. The team is comprised of the same number of first team All-Horizon League student-athletes in each sport. Ties are not broken.

The Vikings completed the 2003 season with a 23-30-1 overall record and advanced to the Horizon League championship game where they lost 7-5 to Wright State.
