Tiffany Stocker Named MCC Player Of The Week

March 26, 2001

Cleveland State's Tiffany Stocker (Sherrodville, OH/Conotton Valley) has been named the Midwestern Collegiate Conference's "Player of the Week" in softball, the league office announced today.

In CSU's four games at the Buzz Classic in Marietta, Ga., over the weekend, the junior centerfielder hit .571, going 8 for 14 from the plate. In the Vikings' come-from-behind 4-3 win over Princeton in their opening game of the tournament, hosted by Georgia Tech, Stocker went 2 for 4 with a triple and three runs scored. The lead-off hitter's final run proved to be the game winner after she had reached base in the seventh on an error.

The speedster, who is CSU's all-time stolen base leader, also swiped up two more over the weekend to run her career total to 70. She has 12 on the year to rank third in the MCC rankings.

Stocker currently ranks second among the Vikings and fourth among MCC leaders in batting average at .393.

Cleveland State, 5-11, is slated to play its home opener on Wednesday, March 28 against Bowling Green State University at Viking Field in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
