Fairfax, Va. - After being rained out the first day, the Cleveland State softball team stormed back from an early loss to capture the 2003 Patriot Classic at George Mason University Sunday.

The Vikings' game with the host Patriots was cancelled due to weather on Friday and then CSU fell to Central Connecticut, 5-2, in the first game Saturday. However, the Vikes rebounded that afternoon to down Binghamton 4-1.

On Sunday, the Green & White posted a 3-2 win over St. Francis (NY) to open the day and then blanked Iona 4-0 in the semifinals to advance to the championship game. In the title contest, the Vikings handled Binghamton again, 4-1.

CSU, 7-8, opens its 2003 home schedule on Tuesday, March 25 with Robert Morris at 3 p.m. at Viking Field.
