Kortney Spidell's return gives the Vikings a pair of number one starters. She has a blistering fastball, complimenting it with an above-average curve. Forced to sit out last year with shoulder problems, she will also play first base when not in the circle and add some pop to the middle of the line-up.

2005 - Redshirt Season

Redshirted due to a shoulder injury.

2004 - Junior Season

Made 25 appearances and 19 starts, posting a 10-9 record with a 2.26 ERA...tossed three shutouts...fanned 70 and walked 16 in 108.1 innings...started 15 games at first base...hit .242 with a home run and six RBI in 124 at-bats...recorded a 1.40 ERA and a 5-2 record in league play...named league pitcher of the week on April 26...went 10-4 in her last 14 decisions...had 39.0 inning scoreless streak from April 7-22...did not give up a run in 16.2 innings at UW-Green Bay (4/24-25)...blanked both Detroit (4/17) and Wright State (4/10)...4-for-8 with three RBI and two runs in twin bill at Niagara (4/22).

2003 - Sophomore Season

Played in 40 games, starting in 35...batted .214 with 22 hits, four home runs and 13 RBI...posted a 2.86 ERA from the pitching circle, going 4-6 in nine starts while striking out 27 in 56.1 innings...tossed a complete-game four-hitter versus St. Francis (Pa.) on March 23, punching out six in a 3-2 victory...went 3-for-3 with a run against Butler on May 4...hit two of her four homers in the Horizon League Championship, collecting four hits and driving in four.

2002 - Freshman Season

Second-team All-Horizon League and All-Newcomer team...started 43 games, including 20 in the circle...led team in innings pitched, games started, complete games, saves, strikeouts and wins.

High School

All-state player of the year in 2000...named first-team all-state her junior and senior year...all-league and all-district three years...team MVP two years and captain as a senior...recorded a 0.17 ERA her senior year, posting a 17-2 record and averaging 11.3 strike outs per game...earned four letters in softball.

Personal

Born May 2, 1983...the daughter of Terry and Elaine Spidell...Athletic Academic Excellence Award winner...early childhood education major.
