Albaugh and Deang Named to #HLSB All-Academic Team

Cleveland, OH-Junior outfielder Brooke Albaugh and senior infielder Jenna Deang have been named to the Horizon League Softball All-Academic Team, the league announced today. Albaugh and Deang are two of 15 student-athletes to earn spots on the All-Academic team. The award combines academic excellence and athletic performance and is voted on by the league's Faculty Athletics Representatives. 

Deang earns a spot on the team for the third consecutive season. She has been named to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll for the past five semesters and has been named to the President's List in three straight semesters. In addition, she was recently named the Valedictorian for Cleveland State University's Monte Ahuja College of Business. Deang carries a 3.9 GPA as a Marketing major. She has been a mainstay in the Viking lineup starting every game at shortstop and registering a .306 batting average.

Albaugh earns a spot on the All-Academic team for the first time after being named to the league's Academic Honor Roll for four consecutive semesters. She has been named to the Dean's List in seven straight semesters. Albaugh holds a 3.97 GPA as a Health Science Pre-PA major. She leads the team with a .321 batting average and ranks first in the league doubles with 14. 

The Vikings are set to play the final regular season series of the season at Viking Field this weekend as Northern Kentucky comes to town. Cleveland State has clinched a spot in the upcoming Horizon League Tournament and will have a chance to improve its seeding in the final weekend starting with a doubleheader scheduled for Friday afternoon.
