Akron, OH-The Cleveland State softball team will make the short trip south to take on Akron on Monday afternoon in a non-league matchup. The Vikings and Zips will meet for a single game starting at 4:00 p.m.

Cleveland State is looking to continue its momentum after a strong start to Horizon League play last weekend at IUPUI. The Vikings took two of three from the Jaguars including sweeping the Saturday doubleheader to start 2-1 in league play.

Akron is 12-15 overall but have won four of five to start conference play. The Zips are 4-1 in the MAC and Cleveland State is the third Horizon League foe on the schedule. Akron is 1-3 against teams from the Horizon League so far this season. The Zips split a doubleheader against Youngstown State on March 12 before dropping both games of a doubleheader to Robert Morris on March 19.

The Zips entertain yet another Horizon League foe on Tuesday as Purdue Fort Wayne visits Akron. Monday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available on gozips.com.
