Cleveland State Softball Falls to NC State at Wolfpack Classic

Raleigh, NC-The Cleveland State softball team fell in its lone game on day two of the NC State Wolfpack Classic, dropping a 10-1 decision to the host Wolfpack that ended in five innings due to the run rule.

NC State struck for four runs off of Cleveland State starter Torrie Jenkins in the first inning which gave the hosts an early advantage, with the key hit coming in the form of a three-run home run.

Cleveland State scored a single run in the third inning as Brooke Albaugh led off with a single and later scored on a passed ball to make it 4-1 NC State.

The Wolfpack added two in the bottom of the third and four in the fourth to break the game open. The Vikings could not push a run across in the fifth inning to extend the game.

The Vikings were scheduled to play a second game on Saturday night, but the contest against Appalachian State was postponed.
