Cleveland State Softball Drops Series Finale at Oakland

Rochester, MI-The Cleveland State Softball team saw its streak of four consecutive Horizon League series wins snapped on Friday as the Vikings fell to Oakland in the rubber match of a three-game series.

After splitting a doubleheader yesterday, Oakland got off to a fast start and never looked back as the Golden Grizzlies defeated the Vikings 8-0 in five innings.

Oakland scored one in the first and three more in the fourth to take an early 4-0 lead. Cleveland State collected five hits in the contest, all of them singles, as the Vikings were held in check offensively throughout the afternoon,

The decisive blow came in the fourth when a Reese Ruhlman triple brought home three more runs and widened the margin to 7-0. Oakland added one more in the fifth to end the game via the run rule.

Cleveland State returns home to Viking Field this week for a non-conference doubleheader with Akron on Tuesday. The Vikings and Zips will square off with the first game scheduled for 3:00 p.m. EST.
