Cleveland State Softball Wraps Up ECU Jolly Roger Invitational

Greenville, NC-The Cleveland State softball team dropped its final two games of the ECU Jolly Roger Invitational on Sunday. The Vikings fell in five innings to Ohio State 10-0, and then fell to Presbyterian 11-6 in the final game of the weekend. Cleveland State drops to 4-19 on the season. 

In game one, Ohio State scored three in the first inning and added seven in the fourth inning, and the Vikings were unable to score in the top of the fifth which ended the game via the run rule. 

In the second game, Presbyterian opened up a lead scoring four runs in the first two frames. The Vikings fought back with a run in the fourth on an Alexa Sieger RBI double. 

Cleveland State added two more runs in the fifth and three in the sixth. Haley West hit her first home run of the season, a three-run shot in the sixth inning. Ultimately it was not enough, as the Blue Hose scored seven combined runs in the fifth and sixth to stay in front. 

Cleveland State opens Horizon League play next weekend, with the home opener against IUPUI scheduled for this Friday, March 25th.
