STILLWATER, Okla. - The Cleveland State softball team dropped a pair of games at the Oklahoma State Mizuno Classic on Saturday.

The Vikings fell to Miami (OH), 5-3, in their first game and fell to host Oklahoma State, 9-4, in the nightcap.

CSU is now 4-12 this year.

In the opener, Miami (OH) jumped out to a 4-2 lead after three innings. The Vikings scored two runs in the third on RBI singles from Erica McNew and Mel Woodard. CSU sliced into the lead on an RBI single by Alyson Broschk in the fifth to make it 4-3, but the Redhawks scored an insurance run in the sixth and the Vikings could not score again.

McNew finished 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI, while Katelind Phillips, Susan Knight, Riley Ries, Broschk and Woodard all had one hit.

In the loss to OSU, the Vikings used an RBI single by Ries and a two-run homer from McNew to take a 3-0 lead after the first inning. However, the Cowgirls scored two runs in the second, third and fourth innings to open up a 6-3 advantage.

After another OSU run in the fifth, the Vikings answered with an RBI groundout from Broschk to cut the CSU deficit to 7-4. However, OSU added single tallies in the sixth and seventh innings to claim the win.
