Softball Drops Two at Louisville Red & Black Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Cleveland State softball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday on the second day of the Louisville Red & Black Classic.

The Vikings dropped their first game, 4-0, to Kent State, and lost to host Louisville in the afternoon, 6-0.

In the opener, the Golden Flashes used single tallies in the second, third, fifth and seventh innings and held CSU to two hits - one each by Erica McNew and Kait Gairing - to claim the win.

Susan Knight was strong in the circle, giving up four runs, three earned, and striking out three in a complete game effort.

In the afternoon game against Louisville, the Cardinals broke open a scoreless game with four runs in the fourth inning and scored single runs in the fifth and sixth to earn the win.

Katelind Phillips and Sidney Morgan had one hit each for CSU, while Macy Kaisk worked all six innings, giving up six runs, but only two earned, on seven hits.

CSU (4-8) concludes play at the Classic with a 10:30 am contest on Sunday (Feb. 28) against North Dakota Stat.
