NFCA ALL-REGION TEAMS

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State senior shortstop Cynthia Woodard (Elyria, Ohio), the 2015 Horizon League Player of the Year, has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Midwest All-Region Third Team after putting together the most prolific offensive season in school history.

The NFCA All-Region teams were announced on Thursday morning.

Woodard is the first player to earn NFCA All-Region honors since 2013 when Dara Toman was voted to the All-Midwest Region second team.

Woodard concluded her senior year with a .433 batting average, 25 home runs and 51 runs batted in, setting CSU single season school records in all three categories. She also topped the Horizon League in home runs and RBI and ranked second in batting average.

In addition, Woodard led the League with 48 runs, 71 hits, 160 total bases and a .976 slugging percentage and was third with 14 doubles.

Woodard, a first team all-league honoree in each of the last two seasons, capped her career with 44 home runs, second most in school history, and 105 RBI to rank fifth in CSU history.

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third teams selected for each region.

The all-region teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2015 NFCA Division I All-American teams.

The 2015 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 5 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 27, via NFCA.org.
