Vikings Fall to Liberty, 3-0

CLERMONT, Fla. - Susan Knight gave up just three hits in her season debut, but Liberty took advantage of a Cleveland State error to score two unearned runs in the sixth inning to earn a 3-0 win over the Vikings on Friday afternoon.

It was the first of five games for CSU in the Dot Richardson Invitational.

CSU fell to 3-1 this year, while Liberty improved to 2-3.

The Vikings were held to just four hits for the game - a double by Katelind Phillips and singles from Cynthia Woodard, Erica McNew and Emma Nicholas.

Knight was solid all game, retiring Liberty in order in four of the first five innings. In the sixth, Jamie Crisp led off with a double - just the second hit of the game off Knight. A pinch runner would come around to score on a single from Megan Robinson and the Flames went on to score two more runs, both unearned, in the inning.

CSU continues play in the tournament at 6:30 p.m. on Friday night against Florida A&M.
