Vikings Sweep Twinbill Over Detroit

DETROIT, Mich.-  The Vikings played two dominant games against the Titans of Detroit this afternoon.  Cleveland State won the first game 5-3 and won 9-0 in five innings in the finale.  CSU provided an offensive explosion in both games and had great pitching from Susan Knight and Alex Radjen.

With the two wins, the Vikings improved to 23-15 overall, 7-5 in Horizon League play. In the two games, the Cleveland State offense had 21 hits and scored 14 runs against Detroit pitching.  The Vikings had impressive performances from Erica Mcnew, Alyson Broschk, Alisha Silva, and Cynthia Woodard.

McNew tallied four hits for the day.  She blasted her fifth homerun (14 RBI) in game one and had a triple in game two, to go along with two singles.  McNew drove in her 15th RBI on one of her two singles she had in game two.  Broschk laced an RBI double to give her 23 RBI in the noon affair, and added singles in both games.

Silva hit a three run bomb in the fourth inning of game two, which was her first of the year.  Her homerun lifted the CSU lead to 5-0 at that point and boosted her RBI total to seven.  Woodard smacked her eighth home run to give her 22 RBI.

Both Knight and Radjen had solid outings in the circle.  Knight (11-12) went six and two-third innings fanning six, walked two, and allowed seven hits on two earned runs.  Radjen (6-2) went five shutout innings striking out six, and only gave up two hits.  She walked no one in the game.
