The Cleveland State softball team will travel to Tennessee-Chattanooga this weekend to play five games in a three-day span as part of the Frost Classic, Inspired by Memorial. After Dayton (0-4) and Tennessee Tech (4-5) on Friday (Feb. 24), Ball State (2-2) and Troy (7-1) are scheduled for Saturday (Feb. 25) before CSU closes with Tennessee-Martin (6-4) on Sunday (Feb. 26).

The Vikings started their season by going 0-4 at South Carolina's Palmetto Classic Feb. 10-12.

Junior Caila Ferro led the squad hitting .462 (6-13) with a homer, three doubles and four runs scored to play her way onto the Palmetto Classic all-tournament team. True freshmen Nena Doran- who hit .385 (5-13) - and Cynthia Woodard joined Ferro in clubbing their first career home runs.

The coaching staff raved about the way Dara Toman hit during the opening weekend of the season. She finished with a .333 average after recording four hits in 12 at-bats and made a number of "hard outs". Two of her hits went for extra bases - including her 27th career home run, a blast that made her the all-time leader in school history.

Toman's homer was one of four Viking shots over the opening weekend of the season, and the CSU staff allowed just one long ball.

Andrea Nagy was one of four Vikings who hit over .300 during the trip. She was 3-for-9 to finish with a .333 clip.

Megan Bashak and Alex Radjen each got two starts in the circle and were, at times, the victims of faulty defense. Bashak in particular allowed nine runs, but only four (44.4%) were earned. She went the distance in both starts and despite her 0-2 record, has an ERA of just 2.00.

The Vikings had a .948 fielding percentage over the four-game trip.

The Tennessee-Chattanooga sports information department will provide live stats of all five games, available at the tournament's official homepage.
