GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Cleveland State sophomore midfielder Heather Clapacs has been named to the 2005 All-Horizon League second team. The announcement came at the annual Horizon League Championship pre-tournament banquet on Wednesday evening as was determined in balloting conducted among the league's head coaches.

Clapacs earns the honor after starting all 16 matches she played in this year. The most effective midfielder on the team, her ball possession skills have helped to significantly increase the offensive production of the Vikings this fall. She finished the regular season ranking fourth on the team with 17 shots and third with eight shots on goal. She recorded one assist this year.

"This is a nice award for Heather," head coach Derrek Falor said. "Because of the role that she played on the team last year, she has been singled out defensively by our opponents this year yet has done a really nice job of distributing the ball to our forwards and creating scoring opportunities."

Awards are not new to Clapacs. She was a second team all-league and All-Ohio pick last year after leading the squad with 43 shots and 20 shots on goal.

The Vikings enter the Horizon League Championship as the No. 8 seed, facing regular season champion UW-Milwaukee in the opening match of the tourney on Thursday (Nov. 3) beginning at 11:00 a.m. CST.
